Ipsy Fresh Picks

May Ipsy Fresh Picks

What I received:

*Av’ene Thermal Spring Water. Fancy French water in an aerosol can… give or take.  I haven’t really used it because the pamphlet that came with it talks about what a precious commodity it is so I want to make sure I use it sparingly. Something new to try that I probably otherwise never would have.

*Pacifica eye shadow duo. Yet another neutral eye shadow sent my way. Not excited and not quite bummed about it either. It’s a bag filler item for me and that’s about it.

*Too Faced Chocolate Soleil. I was beyond thrilled to receive this! One of my all time favs from Ipsy. It really smells like chocolate and is just a great product. I use it everyday for contouring. It was only a sample size but seems like it will still last me awhile. When it runs out I will definitely purchase a full size version. Love it.

*Hang Ten sunscreen. It’s sunscreen, there’s not much to say about it. The sample size is perfect for throwing in my purse though which is exactly what I did with it.

*Eva-nye hair mask. I don’t think this was a full-sized product but definitely at least a deluxe sample size. Enough to get 3-4 uses on my long hair. I’ve used it once and it was okay. Since my hair is platinum blonde I am always happy to try new products that will replenish moisture to my hair. I couldn’t decide if I liked the scent or not. I kept going back and forth between yes, I did like it and no, I didn’t because it possibly reminded me of what I imagined what one of the woman from the Golden Girls would smell like… Super random I know. I did like the coral colored packaging though if that counts for anything at all!

The bag itself was something new, made of canvas material. The material and the organic-ish print made me smile because it is very Pacific Northwest-ish…

Emphasis on the “-ish!”

What I received:

*Urban Decay 24/7 velvet black eyeliner. Even though it was only a sample size it was definitely my favorite item of the bag. I’m an Urban Decay girl so this made me happy.

*Cailyn lip balm in apple pink. I was so excited to get this until I saw what shade I actually received then I was disappointed. I love the style of the applicator and think it’s a really fun lip product I have been anxious to try but I was hoping for red or a real shade of pink. Instead, I received an orange / brown color that I will never wear. I have tried to put it on a few different times just to see if I could talk myself into liking the color each time but I just can’t. I’m hoping to receive another in a future bag in a shade I will actually wear.

*Pop Goes The Shadow in shade Champagne. A nice shade for under my brows and the tear ducts of my eyes. You can never have too much highlighting shadow in reserve so because of that it will eventually get some use.

*Dr.Brandt Microderdabrasion. It was sample size but that’s okay because a little goes a long way. I like that the granulation is extremely fine compared to larger pieces in other kinds that I have tried. I am not a fan of citrus cents which this does have a medium strong scent of. It does a great job of making my face smooth though. I always welcome a new product like this in my bag to throw in the mix in between my usual day-to-day beauty routine.

*Jasmine scented roll on perfume. I actually really liked this even though I thought I wouldn’t at first glance. I use to have a jasmine bath set when I was really young so every time I smell it, it takes me back to that time in my life. Amazing how strongly our sense of smell is connected to our memory. So because of that it was a good product for me.

The bag itself is cute as it goes along with the theme perfectly but it’s not one that I would use for anything other than adding to my ever-growing ipsy bag collection.

Ipsy Celebration

ipIpsy’s December theme was Celebration, just in time to celebrate the New Year.

These are the products that I received in mine.

*Salon Perfect false eyelashes. I have never worn false eyelashes before but I didn’t mind receiving a set. I think they will be fun to give a try for a really special occasion. A time where I’m looking to bring out the extra va-voom, perhaps Mister Mister’s and my eleven year anniversary this year?!

*POP Beauty Smokin’ Hot eyeshadow trio. I hoped to receive the more natural pallet of browns but the greys that I did get is perfect for sultry smokey eyes on date night. Not very pigmented but decent and it will get used.

*Mirabella eye blender brush. I like this brush. It has a substantial weight to it and does its job well.

*Be A Bombshell The One Stick in shade sunset. It’s meant to me an all in one stick that can be used for eyes, lips and cheeks. It is not really my preferred shade to use for any of those but if I do use it, it will be as blush. It’s a large stick which is nice because it will definitely last for quite a while and then some.

*J Cat lip pencil in in shade Red Rose. LOVE. I love this lip pencil. Ipsy has officially turned me into a lip stick fan. I have never been a lipstick wearing girl but Ipsy has sent me so many great lip colors to play around with, that I otherwise would have never tried on my own. This one is my favorite so far. There’s something about a red lip, worn with class, that makes you feel like a million dollars.

*The makeup bag its self is my favorite one so far. It is black, with a leather feel and a great diamond texture and classic red lining.
