Counting My Blessings On A Sunday Afternoon

Counting My blessings On A Sunday Afternoon

is where I reflect on a few of the many blessing and special moments in my life at the end of every week♥  1a    This week I am especially thankful for!…

~Hand made chocolate covered strawberries made by me and enjoyed with my love! ♥

~The fence in our back yard was finally fixed that blew over in a severe wind storm a few weeks ago.

~Sunday evening dinner, a movie and shopping with my boys.

~Half a dozen or so games of chutes and latters played on my bed with Lovey one afternoon. Warm sunshine poured in through the blinds on us and it was one of those magical occasions that life feels like it is exactly how it is supposed to be. ♥

~The official scent of Spring in our home, Bath And Body Works Market Peach and Spring candles and wallflowers.

Thank You Lord,

for Your many gracious blessings in my life!

This week I am especially thankful for!…

~Jurassic Quest came to town this weekend and we spent most of Sunday there. Life sized animatronic dinosaurs, dinosaur rides, inflatables to play in, fossil digs and a lot more. It was a lot of fun!

~St. Patty’s Day shenanigans with my little Irish lad. Crafting rainbows, eating green pancakes, wearing lots of green and fun, festive four leaf clover socks.

~The first day of Spring! The very best time of year, especially in the Pacific Northwest.

~Nail polish sale at Ulta. I picked up a few new colors that are perfect for Spring and Summer!

~I’m glad that Easter is later this year because it gives me more time to get ready for it. There is always the same 365 days a year but somehow when it falls a few weeks later like it does this year I seem to be more prepared. Easter decorating has began and Lovey’s Easter basket is all put together and ready to go!

~The day I wash our bedding every week always makes for the best nights sleep, possibly because I go heavy on the fabric softener! Even better this week was when my Mister Mister got off of work early that day and we enjoyed it even more, cuddled up together watching our favorite shows before we went to sleep.

~A new picture frame collage in the downstairs hallway that includes a plaque that I love which says “Family, where life begins and love never ends.” I couldn’t say it better myself. ♥

Thank You Lord,

for Your many gracious blessings in my life!

~Playing Hot Wheels on the kitchen floor with Lovey. We lost a few under the stove but it was worth the fast paced action the floor tile provided for racing. 😉

~The first day this year warm enough to wear shorts and flip-flops. Woo hoo! You can bet Lovey and I spent the afternoon out and about soaking up the sunshine and warmth of the day.

~New kitchen dish towels found on clearance and a splurge on new throw pillows for the couch. Both adding a little pop of yellow to our house for Spring.

~Playing superheros with my little man. I assume the role of a lady in distress and he’s the super hero that protects me from the bad guys. My sweet hero saves the day and keeps me safe every time!

~A beautiful and blessed Easter weekend spent with my boys. ♥

for Your many gracious blessings in my life!

~While cooking Lovey breakfast one morning, he ran up to me, wrapped his little arms around my legs, looked up at me with those baby blues of his and said “You’re the best cooker, Mom!” ♥

~The first day of Spring! It may still only be in the 50’s here but it is officially SPRING! and I will gladly take it.

~Big brother little sister get it all out, talk about any and everything, cry, laugh, nothing but love conversations. I love my big brother A and I am so thankful for the bond we share and the heart to heart talks that we have.

~Teaching Lovey the little piggy rhyme on his toes that my mom taught me when I was his age: “This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home…” He belly laughs every time as he tries to wiggle away from me by the time I get to his last little piggy.

~Sunday afternoon. Cinnabon. Play time at the mall’s kid’s corner with Lovey and family dinner out. The highlight of a very rough week.

~”Love bears all things. Believes all things. Hopes all things. Endures all things ”  1 Corinthians 13:7 Oh how this verse has been on repeat in my mind, heart and soul this week. I believe it with all of my heart but goodness is it hard to purposely live it out through my words and actions sometimes!

~Last but not least this week, I’m thankful that I went ahead and wrote this post even though I really wasn’t feeling up to writing it. I’m thankful that I took the time to dig deeper than I usually have to in order to focus my heart on the blessings this week held for me, even if they were among things that broke my spirit for a while. I want to be an advocate for never letting life’s painful moments overshadow the sweet ones because even when everything seems to be falling apart, the truth is that it really isn’t. This too shall pass. It is a season of our life. A chapter in our book.  There are brighter days ahead. There is always light at the end of the darkness in the form of God’s unfailing love for us. †

Thank You Lord,

for Your many gracious blessings in my life!

Spring Cake

Happy first day of Spring!

I hope you were able to enjoy some real Spring weather wherever you were at today. As for where we are, the weather seemed a little confused to say the least, with a high of 52. There was pouring rain, hail and sunshine interspersed among one another for the duration of the day. You have to love the Pacific Northwest, at least that is what I keep telling myself. 😉

All be it not inspired by the Spring weather, or rather lack there of, today I was inspired to bake. The outcome, a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and fondant flowers.

I’m a little obsessed with the color yellow as of lately, especially when paired with this beautiful, vibrant turquoise color.

L.o.v.e. IMG_3502I used a frosting technique I have wanted to try for a while.

It’s a keeper and I will be using it often from now on.

I really like the visual interest it adds to the cake.

IMG_3504bWith Lovey’s help, we made flowers out of edible play dough fondant.  Nothing too fancy, just basic flowers from some left over fondant I made for a recent customer order. I tinted the fondant a vivid turquoise, rolled it out, then Lovey helped me cut out the flowers. We added a yellow frosting center to each one then placed them on the cake.IMG_3507The light lemon cake flavor and fondant flowers ended up bringing an element of Spring to our day after all!IMG_3499

~How beautiful my birthday roses still are two weeks later.

~An early start on Spring cleaning, getting a head start on all the deep cleaning and re-organizing in our house.

~Lovey and I surprised Mister Mister by washing and detailing our car and writing him a special note. We left the note on the steering wheel for him to find when he got in it the next day. ♥

~An order for two dozen German Chocolate cupcakes which made our house smell like lovely toasted coconut after I baked them.

~Hazelnut Fraps, my new favorite at Starbucks!

~The fun St. Patty’s breakfast and rainbow chocolate dipped cookies that I made and how cute my boys looked dressed in green together.

~Sunday fun day with my boys: Chuck E. Cheese, grocery shopping, Sonic, then cuddling up on the couch to watch our favorite Sunday night shows.

Thank You Lord,

for Your many gracious blessings in my life!
