Super Dad

It was a Super Dad Father’s Day for Mister Mister this year.j4 Super Dad and his sidekick!10455357_10201248930665780_2835620731973757168_n10462979_10201248935065890_1073970177796598102_nIt all started with the Super Dad hat I bought for Mister Mister a few months back with the intention to incorporate it into his Father’s Day. The rest grew from the red, yellow and white color scheme of the hat and some ideas I found online.

Like this that I found on Pinterest. I just filled in the blanks with Lovey’s answers, printed it out and framed it to be a focal point on the Father’s Day table. Lovey’s answers are seriously too sweet. 10428715_10201248931305796_Again, Super Dad and the chosen colors inspired the cake that I made him. Mister Mister wanted sea food so we tried a new restaurant, Mcgrath’s Fish House. 10359225_10201245037288448_4238386154750114198_n10390971_10201245038128469_1989686706504473359_nBest. A fun Father’s Day and hopefully his best one to date. Lovey and I love him so very much and are thankful to have him as our very own Super Dad. ♥

Father’s Day Trifecta

I baked a trifecta of goodies to go in my Dad’s Father’s Day package this year.IMG_3781First, per his request, I made peanut brittle, it was my first attempt at doing so. He has asked me to make him some for a while so I figured what better time than Father’s Day to give it a try. Once he had a piece and gave his approval it made the chaos that had been corn syrup all over my kitchen worth it. 😉 IMG_3769Second, I made Hazelnut Cupcakes with Nutella filled centers and topped with a Ferrero Rocher hazelnut candy. Very decadent. Very delicious.IMG_3767Rounding out the trifecta was oatmeal peanut butter, chocolate chip, pecan and walnut cookies. A mouthful to say and to eat! IMG_3766

The card I sent him said it all. ♥

Counting My Blessings On A Sunday Afternoon

Counting My blessings On A Sunday Afternoon

is where I reflect on a few of the many blessing and special moments in my life at the end of every week♥

This week I am especially thankful for!…

~My little sister’s birthday. She is so very special to me and truly is my soul sister. ♥

~Lamp shopping with Mister Mister’s mom. She helped me pick out the perfect lamps for our livingroom.

~Friday night Pizza and a movie on the couch with Lovey. We watched UP for the millionth time. That sweet movie never gets old.

~A lovely new chevron throw for our master bedroom. It coordinates perfectly with our duvet cover and I love the pop of pattern.

~Father’s Day and the special Dads in my life, especially my Dad and Mister Mister. I love them so very much. ♥ I’m thankful that Mister Mister was able to be home for the day so that Lovey and I could love on him and let him know how much he means to us not just today but every day of the year. ♥

Thank You Lord,

for Your many gracious blessings in my life!

Father’s Day

We had a lot of fun celebrating Father’s Day this year.

In the morning Mister Mister opened his gifts from Lovey and I.

We had lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant and spent some time at the mall.

In the afternoon we headed to Chuck E. Cheese to play games and eat pizza.

I love when Mister Mister’s inner child comes out and he is fully engaged in playing with Lovey. They played together up in the jungle gym and all. 🙂

As usual, their favorite game to play together there is driving race cars. Doesn’t Lovey look super comfortable?! 😉

Mister Mister and I had some friendly competition going on playing basketball. I never knew I enjoyed shooting hoops so much. I paid for it the next day though when my arms felt like limp noodles, quite a workout. It was so much fun though and at one point Mister Mister was only two points away from breaking the games high score. Combined, we ended up with 414 tickets by the time we were done. We felt quite proud of ourselves. 😉

That evening we cuddled up on the couch and enjoyed a piece of Oreo ice cream cake I made ordered from Baskin Robins. 😉 I know, I cheated and didn’t make a cake myself but I couldn’t resist, it looked too delicious to pass up and it was!

Lovey and I are so very thankful for Mister Mister.

He is such a hard-working man, a wonderful provider for our family and a loving Father and mate. He means so much to us, we love him and was glad to have spent such a nice Father’s Day with him.

Nutella Cookies

Growing up my Dad always made similar no bake cookies using peanut butter. Over the years it became his signature dessert, so when I came across this version of his recipe it made me think of him. He is also a big Nutella fan so making these for him for Father’s Day this year was a no brainer!

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup cocoa

1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup Nutella

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 cups quick rolled oats

In medium saucepan, combine sugar, butter, cocoa and milk. Cook over medium heat to a boil and boil for 1 minute.  Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 Nutella and vanilla.  Stir until Nutella is melted.  Stir in the oats and quickly drop by heaping spoonfuls on the wax paper, then allow to harden.

** I spread an extra 1/4 cup of Nutella on top of the cookies to kick the flavor up a notch and then I sprinkled them with chopped walnuts. **
