Whirlwind

The last quarter of 2012 Mister Mister was called to work out-of-town full-time.

Consequently, the majority of our end of the year/holiday traditions ended up being canceled.

All be it sad and disappointed by this, we understood that it was necessary for the time being and we were thankful that he was given the job opportunity.

Meanwhile, Lovey and I improvised, continuing to make memories because life couldn’t come to a complete standstill.

There are certain experiences, traditions and memories though of which we always want to consist of all three of us. For those things we would pick up where we left off the next year and make the most of the interim.

Although time seemed to move ever so slowly as Lovey and I were missing Mister Mister while he was far away from home, in reality it flew by.

It left us and the upcoming back to back holidays in a whirlwind, so much so that I never manged a single holiday post!

So this is a catch up post of our whirlwind, 2012 holiday season.

HALLOWEEN

Lovey chose to be his favorite Red Power Ranger for Halloween.

My favorite part of his costume was his matching candy bag.

His favorite part was well, being a Power Ranger. ;)

We trick or treated briefly in Lovey’s Nana’s neighborhood then headed home to do the same in our own.

Halloween reminded me how much I adore Lovey’s personality…  calm and courteous. He held my hand as we walked around our neighborhood. He rang the door bells {as he is tall enough to reach them on his own this year!} and waited patiently. He would say trick or treat in the sweetest voice then once offered his choice of candies he would take only one and say thank you.

It maskes a Mama’s heart proud to hear from others how well-mannered he is.

Untitled-7We are not too big on candy at our house so I let Lovey pick out two pieces to reward him for a job well done. He chose a sucker and a box of dots. I checked them and he was a happy boy. I put the rest away for Mister Mister to pick out a few pieces and me to pick out a few mini chocolates then the rest to give away. Seriously, who can eat that much candy anyways?! f6Lovey got ready for bed and put on his Halloween pjs which he had been anxiously waiting to get to wear that night. My little cutie. f7

THANKSGIVING

Mister Mister was off work and back home two days for Thanksgiving.

I made dinner and dessert for the first Thanksgiving spent as just the three of us.

It was lovely.

We pulled the Christmas tree out of the garage and began the decorating for the Christmas season.

We did some pre black friday shopping that night then regular black friday shopping the the next day.

Lonnng lines but good deals that I had organized on a list weeks in advance. Yep, I’m that lady carrying a list around as I shop even through the mayhem of the busiest shopping day of the year. It helps me stay focused so that I don’t end up like Dug in the movie Up… squirrel! likely resulting in a cart full of ridiculous purchases because you know, everything is on sale. ;)

CHRISTMAS

Our favorite time of year.

So thankful that we were healthy, happy, warm and together.

We were so very blessed. IMG_3178Lovey received a special Toy Story stocking from his Tia K.ytbynb

NEW YEARS

New Year’s Eve we received a light dusting of snow, enough to pique Lovey’s interest so we bundled up and spent some time playing in our back yard.  Afterwards I made us all hot cocoa to warm us up.

That night, out of the blue Lovey put himself to bed without our help.

There were certainly no complaints from us.

Mister Mister and I managed to keep our eyes open until the midnight hour, long enough for a quick smooch and an exchange of Happy New Year.

Such party animals we are. ;)

Having Mister Mister away all that time made the three of us cherish our family more than ever when he was back home with us.

The time that we did have together outweighed all that we didn’t.

The Cutest Little Elmo I Ever Did See

Trick or treating went well yesterday.

Unfortunately Mister Mister had to work and although Lovey and I very much wish he could have been with us we still had fun.

We headed across town to Mister Mister’s mom’s house for dinner followed by trick or treating with Lovey’s cousins.Lovey had so much fun dressing up as Elmo.He was certainly the cutest little Elmo I ever did see. ♥ The neighborhood was so festive and a lot of fun for the kids to oooh and awww at all of the elaborate decorations.

This was my favorite house, I liked the giant pumpkin and friendly ghost. :)

The highlight of the night was definitely when Lovey unknowingly knocked on the door to Big Bird’s house.

Lovey’s eyes lit up as he excitedly yelled “Big Bord!!”

So of course a poto of the two was a must.As the night drew to an end we headed back to the kid’s Nana’s house for hot coco and to check out all the goodies that were collected.

A job well done by Elmo, a dinosaur, a cow girl and a 50′s poodle girl. :)   I will always remember how very sweet Lovey’s little voice was as he said trick or treat and how it warmed my heart on that chilly, Halloween night.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween indeed!

Over the weekend the boys and I whipped pumpkin carving out-of-the-way.

Well, technically it was just the boys as I left it all up to Mister Mister since I lack the interest skill that he has for pumpkin carving. ;)

He did a fantastic job as always but the clear winner was Lovey and his pumpkin.Meet Mr. Potato Head’s distant relative,

Mr. pumpkin Head! A few more hours and trick or treating will commence!

I hope you all have a happy and safe Halloween!

We will talk tomorrow, once everyone emerges from their sugar comas that is. ;)

Counting My Blessings On A Sunday Afternoon~ October 30th,2011

Counting My blessings On A Sunday Afternoon

is where I reflect

on a few of the many blessing

and special moments

in my life at the end of every week♥

This week I am especially thankful for:

~Lovey tells everyone to “be ceeefool” (careful) before they leave or I am about to hang up the phone with someone like his Grammy. I love how much concern he demonstrates for other’s well-being.

~The joy of making Halloween treats

~Time spent with Mister Mister, just the two of us, when he gets home from work.

~Carving and decorating pumpkins with my boys.

Thank You Lord,

for Your many gracious blessings in my life!

Pumpkin Fun

What a pumpkin fun-filled week we had!

Warning!… Pumpkin picture overload. :)

Mister Mister, Lovey and I took a trip to a local pumpkin patch which has became a family tradition each year.

Does it look familiar? It is the same one we visited last year.

Lovey chose which wheel barrow to use.

And hitched a ride from Daddy in it.He picked out his very own pumpkin. There always seems to be something about pumpkin patches and the gorgeous colors of fall which yield some of the most precious photos of Lovey. ♥

We  posed with silly photo props like a scarcrow family. And a giant witch. Before heading home we went for a hay ride around the pumpkin patch.

Later in the week Lovey and I took a trip to a different pumpkin patch with Mister Mister’s family–his sister in law, nieces and nephew.

We experienced pumpkin launching for the first time. Some of the pumpkins appeared to have been previously launched but still had some life left in them.It turned out to be a fun, unique experience and we were all glad that we waited out the long line. After the pumpkin launching the kids burned off some energy climbing on the hay bales.

We sipped on our complimentary hot coco on the hay ride to the main attraction–the pumpkin patch! There were roaming fields of pumpkins for the picking.

The kids spent far too long diligently searching the above mentioned fields in pursuit of the perfect pumpkins. ;) All was in good fun though and everyone was pleased with their choice in the end.Afterwards, we took the pumpkins over to the kid’s Nana’s house for decorating.Yes, Lovey really was that excited to decorate his. haha. All finished! Our pumpkin filled week ended with an amazing sunset and many special memories to last!

Halloween Goody Bags

You know all the sweet treats I have made this week…

Chocolate Dipped Marshmallows. Fall Mix. Pumpkin Patch Cake Pops. Well I’ve had a master plan for them all.

I bought these fun Wilton Halloween goody bags and filled them with one of each.I threw in some candy for good measure because who doesn’t need even more candy this time of year! ;) I also slipped in a Happy Halloween card which features sweet, Lovey in his Elmo Costume. :) Goody bags are all ready for family and friends this Halloween!

Lovey’s Halloween Basket

If there is one thing everyone knows about Lovey it’s that he can not get enough of Elmo.

He loves that little red furry monster.

So I’m sure you can guess what he is going to be for Halloween this year. ;)

Remember Lovey’s Elmo Easter basket?

Elmo wore bunny ears and Lovey thought it was just the coolest thing on Easter Morning.

I lucked up and found an Elmo Halloween basket too!… to complete his costume. :)

This time Elmo is a little witch. It’s lined with material that features Elmo and Abby Cadabby in their costumes.

So cute!I browsed the dollar section at Target and filled his basket with fun Halloween toys. They should occupy his time on Halloween until it is time to go trick or treating!

Spider Halloween Craft-Tutorial

With one week left until Halloween it’s time to switch into Halloween mode and get some things ready for it.

The first item of business was Lovey’s Halloween craft. What we used to make it;As soon as I told him we were going to do a craft he hopped up at the dining table and was ready to get to it!

I wonder where he gets his crafty enthusiasm from?!I traced his hands and cut them out, minus the thumbs since spiders only have eight legs. Then I glued the two hands together to form the spider’s body and Lovey attached its eyes.I cut a piece of medium length black ribbon so that the spider could be hung up.

I tied smaller pieces of orange ribbon around it to give it a more festive look.Lovey and his spider, I think we may call him… Spidey the spider. :) And like all great works of art ;) to the refrigerator Spidey went to be displayed for all to see!
